Our Heritage
Resolute Investment Managers traces its history to November 1986 when an affiliate, American Beacon Advisors, Inc. (formerly AMR Investment Services, Inc.), began providing investment management services as an independently operated entity owned by the parent company of American Airlines.
More Than 30 Years of Success
December 2022: Acquired a majority interest in RSW Investments.
August 2021: ARK Investment Management and Resolute finalized the sale of Resolute’s ownership stake back to ARK and ARK employees. Resolute continues serving as distributor of ARK’s products and solutions to U.S. investors.
December 2019: Acquired a majority interest in National Investment Services (NIS). Named to the “2019 Best Places to Work in Money Management” list by Pensions & Investments magazine.
May 2019: Acquired a majority interest in SSI Investment Management.
April 2019: Acquired a minority interest in RSW Investments.
April 2017: Acquired a controlling interest in Shapiro Capital Management.
July 2016: Acquired a minority interest in ARK Investment Management.
April 2015: Acquired by investment funds affiliated with Kelso & Company and Estancia Capital Management, two prominent private equity firms. Through this agreement, the next phase of our growth story began.
September 2008: AMR Corporation sold American Beacon Advisors to Lighthouse Holdings, Inc., which was indirectly owned by investment funds affiliated with Pharos Capital Group, LLC and TPG Capital, L.P. At that time, the ownership structure made American Beacon one of the largest minority-controlled investment management firms in the country.
2005: AMR Investment Services, Inc. changed its name to American Beacon Advisors, Inc. Under the new name, the firm’s mutual fund products, previously marketed as American AAdvantage Funds, became the American Beacon Funds.
Throughout the 1990s: As an organization, we grew our assets under management from $7.2 billion in 1990 to $21.7 billion in 1999.
November 1986: We began providing investment management services as an independently operated entity, AMR Investment Services, Inc. (now known as American Beacon Advisors, Inc.), owned by the parent company of American Airlines. We begin tracing our history at this point in time.
Prior to November 1986: Our investment officers successfully managed the operating funds of the AMR Corporation Treasury Department. Their investment success led to the formal creation of American Beacon Advisors, Inc. to provide business management, advisory, administrative and asset management consulting services to individual and institutional investors.
